In the mid to late 70’s your Editor was a broke and slightly younger man yearning to have a cool stepside pickup but all had was a rusted 1962 Volvo 445 Duett.
I worked at a sheet metal shop so I went to work with a hacksaw and welder. One of the side windows were recycled as the rear window, another one was used as a moon roof.
Painted it with enamel in my dad’s garage. Everything in the garage was also thereafter yellow.
Probably not a winner on style but hey, I had a stepside pickup. The truck is still around today.
