12th Annual Swedish Club Car Show

The 12th Annual Swedish Club car show was held at the Swedish Club for Swedish Cars with Swedish car enthusiasts waving Swedish flags and eating Swedish meatballs. Phew…that is a lot of Swedish!

This international event event got the attention of the media. CNN, New York Times and others were fighting for a press pass but in the end, we only allowed for the media giant Seattle Times to be there. They sent out a reporter with a fancy camera and hard hitting questions. See Alan Berner’s photos here

Swedish flags were meeting Swedish cars as the lot started to fill up.

Swedish Club past President and member Brandon Benson brought his 1973 1800ES. Brandon has been very instrumental in making this show happen year after year.

Ingvar brought his newly acquired 1961 544 presented in white.

Another new owner was Patrick who brought his black plated California 1965 122S. The car have never seen rust. New dash, new speedometer and optional Recaro seat adjusters made the interior a gem.

Gary’s 1967 Volvo 122S that he has owned for more than 50 years! Now, new and improved with overdrive. Everything is better in overdrive!

1800S cars galore. In the foreground, Jill’s new investment.

Jill initially parked her car away from the others thinking it was not “good enough”. We quickly talked her out of all that humbleness and asked her to join the others. It’s about driving and having fun, not about having a perfect car.

Swedish rumps

Red, white and …green? Yup, some of our favorite Volvo colors.

David had this collectors item in his 1800S. A match box from Bel-Kirk Motors in Kirkland. Fun fact: Your Editor worked for them starting in 1982.

Walt’s Duett. See the full story on this car under Member Focus.

Gary has 66% Norwegian in him but also 2% Swedish so we will allow this “S” sticker.

Swedish terrorist with a space gun?? Nope, just El Presidente Gary masked up and getting ready to announce the awards.

Göran brought home the award for best Volvo. Well deserved.

Two 900 convertibles as well as a Turbo sedan represented the Saab side.

Christian Webber and family from Woodinville took home the Best Saab award with his 1989 900 Convertible.

A fantastic day in the sunshine. Special thanks to the staff at the Swedish Club for the hospitality and yummy Swedish meatballs with lingonberries!

Let’s do this again!
