The Southern Cruise is in the books. We started from Harvey Field in Snohomish with a 10:30 departure. Nine cars were present for the initial leg of the journey. Heading down High Bridge road was a pleasure with perfect weather, new pavements and light traffic.
West Snoqualmie River road took us south at a leisurely pace.
We stopped at a farm south of Carnation to streach our legs and to pick up Patrick with his red 122S and Jill with a white 1800S.
As an amateur photographer, I look long and hard for great backdrops when I shoot cars. I think I nailed this one. Ingvar’s most excellent 1961 Volvo 544S.
Caption this!
Farm equipment and…you know…Volvo.
Now we had eleven classic Volvos making a pretty parade. Ingvar’s white 544 was renamed the “caboose” as he was the sweep car with the sophisticated communications system.
Quick stop for a photo op of the cars we have never seen before!
Meadowbrook Bridge
South East Mill Pond road takes us along parks and open areas along the river.
Patrick’s rustfree (gawd dammit!) black plated Californa Volvo 122S in the foreground.
North Bend! Since there is a North Bend, is there a North Straight? Why did it bend in the first place? Something for scholars to sort out. Nevertheless…
Once arrived in North Bend we were able to find parking and set up a social distance lunch. Some folk took advantage of outdoor servings at restaurants in town.
Mel…the furry one, was enjoying the drive as well. She is modelling a Volvo tee!
For the afternoon we backtracked the same route and ended in Monroe Route 2 Taproom with outdoor serving for an adult beverage or root-beer float.
Good Day!
