2020 Fall Swap

The PSVSA “Fall Rain or Shine” Volvo Tailgate Parts Swap Meet was held at a new location in Magnuson Park, Seattle.
The weather person or some artificial intelligence predicted 100% chance of rain and we can confirm that they were 100% right. This mean that you have a 100% chance of getting wet.

Even with such lousy forecast we had over 20 Volvos with enthusiastic owners that showed up. Everyone masked up and parts were sold and swapped.

These flat hood cars just have the right look. It looks like they broke the suspension on this one, though. Hopefully they got AAA.

A lowered Volvo Amazon wagon rolling on chrome Rally wheels equipped was a new sight.

Another car we had not seen before was this red PV Sport. Very nice paint.

140 cars are just rare. This are the original cars that gave Volvo its nickname “brick” for obvious reasons. This 144 was in excellent condition.

I remember when these red 242 Turbo cars sold new. I also remember test driving this model when it came out in Stockholm, Sweden. They were hot then and still are. It was an excuse for the “reasonable” Volvo owner to enjoy some POWER while still looking respectable in the community.

More flat hood action. When these cars were new, no one wanted to be seen in a beige car. Now it just cool.

Remember when Volvo were soo proud of their oxygen sensor that that gave it a name…and a purdy emblem.

T-Yellow was the name for this car. Most people thought it was because…duh…color and also Turbo.

The nickname actually is a play on words and stems from Swedish Grill Lighter Fluid. T-Gul, see left below.

Swedes takes their alcohol very seriously (as one should!) and they have a system for these products. For example, T-Blå (T-blue, right side) is windshield washer fluid.
It is smart as there is little chance of mixing up the products. You wouldn’t want to add lighter fluid to your windshield washer bottle…or do you?? Add spark and shoot flames! Hey, there is an idea!

These late model 240 cars are very well appointed for today’s driving and looks great with the Euro style headlights.

A soaked Volvo 122S. Flat headlight lenses tells of an owner that have upgraded to E-Code headlights. That’s a good thing in these dark and rainy days.

Rare 245 Turbo wagon or…How to haul kids, dogs and surf boards in style.

All in all great day in the rain. The swap was successful. Your Editor sold parts for $15.00 and I am currently in talks with my financial advisor as how to invest my capital.

Let’s do this again!
